I am definitely ready for classes to start. I miss the campus atmosphere and meeting new people in class. I miss walking into class and learning new things along with other people. This Fall I am taking five classes instead of four like the previous semesters. I will be attending two classes on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and I have three online classes. The style of an online class is something that is new to me. Continue Reading
The following post was originally posted on February 26, 2011 titled “Just An Average Guy”. I started a blog on another blogging platform before I started here on WordPress. I had only written a few posts on this website and this was one of them. I find it very interesting to read things I have written in the past. That is one of the main reasons I started “The Castleman Callant”; I like to re-experience what I was thinking and watch how I have changed. Continue Reading
That’s it folks. It’s all over. The end finally came, finals are over, and summer break is now here!
I can not believe how fast the Spring semester has flown by. It seems like this semester was shorter than the one in the Fall. Either way, I am not complaining that it went by fast. I now have a nice break to enjoy! I am not taking summer classes this summer, but I probably will in the years to come. I want to finish school in an adequate amount of time. These past two semesters, my first two of my college career, I have taken twelve credit hours each. Next semester I am registered for fifteen credit hours, which is five classes instead of four.
Next semester I am registered for two classes on campus and three classes online. For my first two classes I have to go to campus and sit in on class, like I normally would and have been doing for all of my classes thus far. My other three classes are online. I have yet to take a class online, so I am not sure yet what it will be like. I am taking somewhat of a risk scheduling three. I know that taking online classes takes a lot of determination, motivation, and focus to get the work done. Only one of my online classes requires me to go to campus for tests. Other than that, all of the work is online through the university’s BlackBoard system. I feel like I will do alright in the online classes. I spend a good amount of time on the computer…doing anything at random. I feel I could click on my class and see what assignments are due that week or day and just do them right away. I would send it right in on the computer and then not worry about it until the next assignment pops up that is due. Overall, I am really interested to see what these online classes turn out to be. While obtaining my degree, I do not want to just lay back and attend class and that is it. As a current freshman just finishing my second semester, I want to become a part of the university and get involved in some way. While bored and cruising the university website I found a list: 101 Things to Do Before You Graduate. This list pertains to things particularly to IPFW and also general college things.
Here is the link to the PDF file: 101 Things To Do Before You Graduate
I found this super interesting and it got me really excited! I started to think, has anyone done all of these things or most of them? There are some easy tasks to accomplish and some hard. The easy ones may include #19 play pool in the Stomping Grounds, #43 Lay out on a blanket on the lawn and study, and #48 Buy an IPFW sweatshirt, just to name a few. Some of the hard ones may include, #20 Study abroad for a semester, #60 Add to your Co-Curricular Transcript by completing Leadership 101, 102, and 103 and, #94 Partner with a faculty member in an Undergraduate Research project and present your work at a conference. Some of them are ongoing tasks that I can not say I completed until the end of school, such as meeting with a professor at least once each semester and collect as many free t-shirts as you can. I am thinking about doing as many of these items as I can. I will live by the “pictures or it didn’t happen” rule for all of these as best as I can! I think that would be really awesome! What do you think?
There are three things I am considering to do first, just because…: Continue Reading
The school semester is coming to an end and it is a very stressful time. I feel very stressed because there are so many end of the semester projects and tests that need to be completed. Only two more weeks of class left, this week and next week. Then it will be finals week. I believe all of my finals occur on Monday and Tuesday. So after then is when I will be done. I certainly can not wait until I do not have to attend class during the summer. I am just going to relax and enjoy the summer, besides working at the hospital. That is what the summer is for. Sometimes, near the end of summer break I want to get back to school, because there is so much free time in the summer. I am not going to let that happening. I plan on making this summer a great one. I want to do a lot of things this summer. I am not sure what those things are yet, but they will definitely keep me busy.
As of right now, I am extremely busy with schoolwork, so hopefully I can get through these next three weeks with good grades and I can take a sigh of relief.
There are six weeks left in the Spring semester. I feel like I am on track and on top of my schoolwork as of right now. I am finishing up the first draft of a research paper I had to do for English class. I am writing about the negative effects caffeine can have on the body. I still have a 7-10 page paper to write for philosophy class on a certain subject area in philosophy that I still have yet to choose. That paper sure will be a fun one to write… Continue Reading
