This past Sunday my sister and I decided to attend the Allen County Fair. It was the last day of the event so the admission was free. We took advantage of the free entry. The last time I went to the fair was probably ten years ago. The fairground is only twenty miles at most away from our house. I guess since my parents really did not have much interest in the event, I did not attend as much as a little one. Continue Reading
Wow what a weekend it has been! I try to make the best of every weekend I have off from work and try to do something fun. Until Monday, I did not have anything planned for this past weekend. Bored one evening, I was scrolling through my Facebook news-feed and saw a video one of my friends, Dan, had made. It was about the Holler Hoppin Zip Lines in Nashville, Indiana. He is doing an internship there for the summer. I knew immediately that is what I was going to do on the weekend! I found out it was only $30 to zip and made a reservation for Saturday right away. I have been working at the hospital for four months now. After six months from the hire date, I am able to apply for other jobs within the hospital that are not in housekeeping. Housekeeping is alright, but let’s get real here; it is not the most exciting job in the world. After my six months are up in September, I plan to look for a job opening in security. Security is closer to what I want to do with my career than housekeeping. At least it is on the right track of law enforcement. I suppose you could be silly and say, “But you are ‘cleaning up’ the criminals. That has something to do with housekeeping”. Funny pun. Continue Reading
Yesterday evening I participated in something call Trek the Trails. Every Tuesday people meet up to go for a bicycle ride on Fort Wayne’s Rivergreenway Trails. It was a pretty cool sight to see everybody out and about on their bicycles. These rides last no longer than 10 miles at a time. It is somewhat of a slow-paced ride. I think most people like to take in the nature scenes. I do as well, but I think I can do it riding faster than 8 mph… There were some points where there was enough room to overtake the riders in front of you. I believe the front of the pack is the place to be if you want to ride a little faster. About halfway through they stop and take a short break and let everyone catch up. I took some video clips of this ride and put them together. Enjoy!
Thanks to a photo contest put on by IPFW’s newspaper, The Communicator, I won two tickets to the Godsmack, Staind, and Halestorm concert at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The contest was to take a photo of yourself reading this newspaper in a strange place. I submitted a few great pictures that my sister helped me capture.
That picture was the best one out of the group, I thought, and apparently the staff did as well. It took a few days to pick a winner, and there were not too many submissions by other people. I was looking through other submissions and, without trying to be biased, thought mine was most strange or outrageous I guess you could say as well! I went to pick up my tickets and I was so excited!
I asked my good friend Alex to come with me to this concert. This was one of a few concerts that I have been to. My last concert I went to was a Styx concert in Muncie back in 2010 I believe. That was awesome, but this concert definitely topped that one. Continue Reading
The Komets fought hard to get to game seven in this series. I have been following this particular series from the beginning. It was tough knowing that the Komets lost the first two games on their home ice; however, the team has had a great road game record during the regular season. They won the next two games away on Missouri ice, making the series tied at two. They lost game five in Missouri, but came home and won in “the jungle” (Allen County War Memorial Coliseum), forcing game seven that happened tonight.
I decided to go to this game not only because it will be a tough, exciting game and there was sure to be a winner, but because I am completing a list of 101 Things to Do Before You Graduate. One of those things was to “Attend a Tin Caps or Mad Ants game and support your local sport teams”, and I am sure attending a Komet’s game falls under this category! So I can go ahead and cross #22 off the list! Continue Reading
