Wow what a weekend it has been! I try to make the best of every weekend I have off from work and try to do something fun. Until Monday, I did not have anything planned for this past weekend. Bored one evening, I was scrolling through my Facebook news-feed and saw a video one of my friends, Dan, had made. It was about the Holler Hoppin Zip Lines in Nashville, Indiana. He is doing an internship there for the summer. I knew immediately that is what I was going to do on the weekend! I found out it was only $30 to zip and made a reservation for Saturday right away. All three of these big athletic events are coming up soon! I plan to tune in to these events as much as I can.
Being a fan of tennis, I can not pass up the opportunity to see some of the greatest players compete yet again. I usually do not follow tennis or any big players regularly. I think last year I watched a bit of Wimbledon and was cheering for Andy Murray. This year, with the help of DVR, I should be able to watch more matches. I will probably focus more on the men’s side of the bracket due to the fact that I recognize more key players. I think it would be amazing to live life as a tennis player! Continue Reading

Yesterday evening I participated in something call Trek the Trails. Every Tuesday people meet up to go for a bicycle ride on Fort Wayne’s Rivergreenway Trails. It was a pretty cool sight to see everybody out and about on their bicycles. These rides last no longer than 10 miles at a time. It is somewhat of a slow-paced ride. I think most people like to take in the nature scenes. I do as well, but I think I can do it riding faster than 8 mph… There were some points where there was enough room to overtake the riders in front of you. I believe the front of the pack is the place to be if you want to ride a little faster. About halfway through they stop and take a short break and let everyone catch up. I took some video clips of this ride and put them together. Enjoy!
It just so happens I purchased my bicycle during Bike Month and this week is “Bike to Work Week”. I was planning on riding my bike to work anyway to see how far it was and to see if I could actually tolerate biking to work. So far I have ridden my bike to work every day this week, today being day three. It is not bad at all. It is almost exactly seven miles to get to work from my house. I try to ride on the sidewalks as much as I can on the way to work. When the sidewalks are not available, most of the time there is some extra room on the road between the solid, painted line and the edge of the pavement. On the way home, I take the street where I would normally take the sidewalk during the day. There is less traffic at night. Continue Reading
I bought a new bicycle! It has been awhile since I have owned a bike. I bought a bike, because I wanted to ride it for exercise, ride down the county roads and city trails, and possibly use it to commute to places. I know I wanted a road bike, because they go faster and there really is not any mountain riding in Indiana. Northeast Indiana is very flat. I am thinking I could possibly ride it to work on nice days. It is about seven miles from my house to the hospital. I think that is pretty feasible. Continue Reading
