Well, where do I begin? My last written post was at the beginning of May, so I have a bit of blogging to catch up.
The jail and career path of law enforcement took a dive after coming to the truth that I couldn’t handle that type of job. Not for me. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t live an aggressive or stressful lifestyle. I am a relaxed and laid back kind of guy and I just couldn’t handle the stress. I left my position at the jail and was able to get my security job back at a moments notice. This job didn’t provide what I was looking for either. With the altering schedule, the expenses of fuel, and the lack of management at this job, I had left that as well after about 3 months. I got a job with a roofing company in early October putting on commercial roofs. They threw me onto the job site and onto a team of guys. There was no official training and I was pretty much just an extra hand to pick up trash and clean since they didn’t teach me how to do much. The winter and cold was coming on quick and most guys in that company sit at home and take unemployment for the winter. That’s what they encouraged me to do, however I wasn’t having that. There’s something about taking money from the government when I’m completely able to find myself a job that I don’t like. So this leads me to where I am now. My buddy Derek contacted me and said he has a position for me at Kroger if I needed one. I took him up on that offer. So now it feels like I’m starting back at square one where I first started with my first job. The circle of life. I’m happy with this decision because I think it will fall along the lines of my new course of study I’ve decided upon: business administration. I’m hoping to return to school in the fall of 2015.
That’s been my employment roller coaster for this year. I’m thinking sticking with Kroger will be honest work while I head back to college and work my way towards a degree. I need new goals to set for myself because lately I was feeling lost without them, so I believe this will be a good start.
I guess I should let you all know about my current relationship status as well. I asked out a really nice girl I went to IPFW with when I was taking classes there. We started dating in the beginning of October. She is very pretty, fun to be around, and fun to joke with. However, recently within the past week we are no longer together. I think her and I both just needed time to get things straightened out in our own lives before trying to share it. Find our goals and our happiness within ourselves. I hope this doesn’t mean we can’t be together in the future. I know my intentions, but I’m just not fully aware of hers. Just have to keep the hope as long as I can.
I’m still living in the same apartment. I put some Christmas lights in the window for the season. I like it here, but I may possibly be looking for a roommate and a two bedroom place to split costs with someone. I wouldn’t mind having someone around to talk to and hang with. It gets kind of lonely with no one around most times. So we’ll see where that takes me.
I’m still in the guard going one weekend per month for training. My two weeks of training will be near the beginning of next year instead of the summer, and it sounds like the mission will be pretty cool. It also provide a nice chunk of change after the holidays. I could use some work on my physical aspect of training. I’ve been trying to get a gym routine going to work out more often. It’s tough to keep myself motivated but it has to happen.
I’ve been hanging out with my dad and seeing him quite often. Getting dinner/lunch and playing poker. We have an idea of going to Vegas sometime in a few months. That would be pretty awesome. I’ve never been any farther west than Missouri, so a nice vacation would be awesome especially in Vegas. The details and dates still need to be worked out. I try to keep tabs on my sister. I know she’s keeping busy with school and work. I try to keep encouraging her every opportunity I get because she’s got something real nice going for her with her college scholarships.
That’s pretty much a quick (okay maybe not so quick but long) run down of the 411 with me. I’ll be trying to stay warm this winter. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as the last one!
