I just got a call from the sheriff’s department this afternoon and got news that I passed my polygraph. I was going to go crazy if I didn’t hear from him today. Tomorrow I have to get a physical, a Tuberculosis test, and a drug test done. I can easily do that after work in the morning since I get off at 7AM and they open at 7:30AM. The hardest part now is going to be telling my current employer that I have to leave him. I know he (the store manager) and the other supervisors like me quite a bit already because of my hard work every time I am there. They will be a bit upset that they will have to fill a night shift position, but it’s for the betterment of my future!
Right now I am looking at a start date of April 7th for my new position. Obviously I’m not just going to be thrown into the ring right away. There is some training that needs to be done. And with that training comes being sprayed with OC spray (oleoresin capsicum). This is so I know what it feels like so I will be trained to use it when that level of force is necessary. Other training will include other physical defense tactics I imagine as well as all the other things I need to know. There is going to be plenty of information to soak up and learn, but I am a quick learner. Can’t wait to get started!
