It has been the longest time ever in between posts and for that I apologize. I did not post at all in January. Get comfortable because this is a longer post. Here is a little update on what has been going on:
At the beginning of the year, I moved out into my apartment and I have everything moved in. I will post some pictures here soon! So far, everything has been going well. The bills are a little higher the first month due to start-up fees or activation fees for the electricity and internet, which I think is ridiculous. For the most part, I have been cooking my own food. I have made spaghetti a couple of times and some fettuccine alfredo. Microwaved things are probably easiest, but when I cook, I can make plenty of more food to save as leftovers for a few days. I have all my essentials I really need in order to live comfortably. It gets a little boring around the apartment at times, but I have my computer and an internet database for movies and shows (Netflix) to keep me entertained. The neighbors keep pretty quiet and I do the same.
My girlfriend, Bailey, and I have been doing well. Coming up on three months of being together. She doesn’t live conveniently close, but I do see her at least once every week. Either I will drive to see her or she will come to see me. Last time she was in town, we went to Olive Garden because she had a gift certificate from Christmas, so that was really nice. I just got a Red Robin gift certificate for my birthday from her mom, so it looks like that will be the next establishment to hit when she’s in town! We went to her dad’s house to watch the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the team I was rooting for didn’t do so well.
The weather has been ridiculous lately, but if you live in Northeast Indiana, you know all about that. I haven’t had a problem getting around in my truck though. The newer tires seem to be working well. So far this is the 2nd snowiest winter in Fort Wayne history, and we still have all of February and some of winter weather in March to go through, so we might pass the record.
This morning I was supposed to have an interview at the Allen County Jail for a confinement officer position, however, due to a big snow storm, it was rescheduled for Monday morning instead. I was very excited for today and ready to go, but I suppose this will give me more time to go over more potential interview questions and think of how I would answer them. In other job related news, I put my two weeks notice in at the security job and left due to a job offer with CVS. Yeah, here we go again with CVS, but this time around I will be getting paid $1.50 more than I made at the security company and this will be a full-time position as well. I will be working night shifts at a 24hr store. Hopefully this will be a temporary thing while I am still going through the interview process with the jail. If I get hired at the jail, my career path would be set and I would be ecstatic. I am training this week at CVS and will start working on my own at the beginning of next week.
I have been lucky with the Hoosier Lottery lately. I won $500 from a second chance drawing. This meaning I entered some losing tickets online and they had a drawing. My ticket along with others were chosen to win that $500 amount. I had to send that ticket into the office in Indianapolis and about two weeks later I received the check in the mail. Another time, my friend and I both put money together to buy lottery scratch offs and would split any winnings. We scratched a $100 winner on just a $2 ticket and made thirty dollars each in profit that day. The final time was just today. I went into the gas station and bought one $2 ticket and won $100 on that one. I’d say I’ve been pretty lucky!
That’s really about it! I will definitely start posting more, so the break is over!
