I held off on typing this blog because it has just been crazy with the job offers lately. I got a call for yet ANOTHER job interview this past Friday. So let me break this schedule down for this craziness so far.
I got back from training, and put in applications to plenty of different places. FWCS was the first to call me. I scheduled an interview and accepted their job offer for a part-time job that starts in August. About a week later, I got a call from Fazoli’s. I scheduled an interview and accepted a part-time job offer that started within the week. After only working at Fazoli’s for a week, I got a call from CVS and scheduled an interview. That same day I accepted a part-time job with CVS that paid more than Fazoli’s and I put in my two weeks notice at Fazoli’s. Now here’s the new information. Two days later I got a call from STS Security. I scheduled an interview for Wednesday the following week. (Today) I went to the interview today, and accepted a full-time job! This will be working night shifts. My employer said there are currently opportunities for overtime as well, which I think I will take advantage of. I start tomorrow night for my first night of training.
I have to tell FWCS and CVS that I am no longer interested with employment with them. It’s kind of insane that I am telling employers I don’t want a job with them. I don’t think they will be used to hearing that given the job market and unemployment status lately. But, I’m hoping they will understand when I explain this security job will be better for my long-term goals. Now, I can say I’m not just working for a paycheck. I will be working in the field that I love and enjoy, so the money is a bonus.
After this, I won’t even set up any interviews for another job, unless it is with a police department, which I haven’t started applying to yet. I figured I can gain some experience working security for a while, go to school and knock out more classes towards my degree. Then, when I feel the time is right, start applying to different police forces in Indiana that are hiring.
I am excited for this new security job. It is another step in the right direction for my law enforcement career.
