Right now, one of my main goals is to find a full-time job so I can start paying off my student loans I owe. I want to get everything paid off before I start going to classes again. Even though I would be going to school for practically free with the benefits I get from the National Guard, it would be a sigh of relief not to owe anyone any money. So, in order to do that, I would have to find a job and manage my money. I’ve been a little loose with my spending since I have gotten back from training. I use the excuse of treating myself when I spend some money on things I really don’t need. That excuse can only be used for so long.
I made a good chunk of change while I was away and I don’t want to throw all of that away. I want to build on that to start saving money. I bought a book I have been wanting to read for quite some time now. It’s called The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. He has his own radio show, but that doesn’t broadcast here in Fort Wayne. I like to listen to the podcasts online sometimes. He mainly talks about financial planning and other stuff of that nature.
I have a total of 31 total applications out to 13 different places that include Parkview Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Kroger, Marcos Pizza, Pizza Hut, Fazoli’s, American Eagle, Jimmy Johns, CSX Transportation, CVS, Edy’s Ice Cream, 8020 Inc., and Fort Wayne Community Schools. All of these were positions that were actually hiring, so I’m hoping for the best. I’ll continue to fill out applications for any place actively hiring. I really would like something within the law enforcement or security division, but I would take anything at this point to get some money for my loans.
I’ll be sure to keep updated on the job search! If you have any leads, definitely let me know. 🙂
