The one freedom that most guys miss around here is the opportunity to eat whatever we want like we would at home. If anyone has a sweet tooth here, they are pretty much out of luck. We eat three times every day, but it’s a lot of the same stuff. I haven’t seen any new entrees for awhile. I’m not complaining… all the meals are really good. The fact that I have a craving for something such as chips and salsa, I’m not able to run to the store to get it, and that is the downfall. There’s a few things in the dining facility privates go for such as a trail mix that has chocolate chips, fig newtons, Nutrigrain bars, sugary cereal, and chocolate milk. My little trick to cure a sweet tooth is to take a packet of peanut butter and a glass of chocolate milk. I pretty much make a Reese’s cup inside my mouth.
We are allowed to receive packages with any kind of food we want along with authorized items. Most people have food and candy sent to them. My mom has been sending a couple granola bars at a time, which I very much appreciate! I personally don’t want any candy at all while I am here. I want to stay somewhat healthy. If anyone wants to send me anything, I won’t complain! A care package can’t be any bigger than a shoebox and it can’t be accountable where I would have to sign for it. Here’s a small list of goodies I would want if you want to be awesome and send me something:
- Brown Cinnamon Sugar Pop Tarts
- Granola Bars
- Cereal Bars
- Yogurt Covered Pretzels
- Honey Mustard Pretzels
- Original Beef Jerky
- Honey-roasted Peanuts
- Butterscotch Pudding Snak-Paks w/ plastic spoon
- Rice Krispie Treats
- Chex Mix
Note that I only have 5 to 10 minutes to consume everything in the package. Everything else left has to get thrown away. There are some guys here that eat so much junk, it’s hard to believe. Three whole snickers bars plus a whole box of Girl Scout cookies and gummy worms is pretty ridiculous.
Thank you in advance if you send something and make my day of training a lot better!
Until next time,
