This past weekend at reception has been slow because none of the processing stations are open. Also, today is a government holiday so nothing is happening today either. We all have been hanging out in the barracks coming up with make-shift games to play. A lot of people are taking advantage of this time to sleep, organize their things, and write like I am.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to call home if we purchased phone cards for the payphone, but I didn’t buy one. It’s been just about a week being here, so I haven’t been too homesick. I’ve formed a group of buddies that are all MP’s and a couple others as well: Pruitt, Bear, Walling, Walton, Theisin, Arnett, Green, Hoffman, Ward, Benson, and too many others to name. Some people are really homesick and it’s getting tough for them. Some people didn’t realize what they were getting themselves into. Last night we had a guy sleeping in a room by himself across from the drill sergeant because he was on suicide watch. I’m not sure how or why, but apparently he either tried to kill himself or talked about doing it. Our bay took shifts to watch the guy sleep so he didn’t try anything.
We are all ready to start Basic. We are tired of being here, moving around slowly for processing. We got a bunch of shots including a penicillin shot in the rear. This one hurt the most for everyone. It was pretty funny seeing that most of these guys have tattoos and were worrying about getting a few shots.
Not much going on before we ship on Wednesday. Ready to get going and do some cool stuff with these guys!
Until next time,
