Christmas is over already? Today I had my last Christmas gathering with my mom’s side of the family, the Banasiaks. This Christmas seemed to come and leave very quickly. I did some of my shopping rather early, with two weeks being my definition of early, and some of my shopping last-minute. I spent more than I usually did in the past on gifts this year. I thought it would be nice to give more.
On Christmas Eve, I went to the Castleman’s Christmas. There was plenty of food including wings, delicious lunch meat for sandwiches, and a bunch of snacks. We did a white elephant gift exchange. I brought some Colts speakers to plug into an audio device and I ended up taking home some car interior wipes and tire detailing spray. Not a bad deal at all! I also got some money from my father, money from my grandma and grandpa, and a shirt from my Aunt Alice. The white elephant exchange is always a great time with the Castlemans. A bunch of fun to be had!
On Christmas morning I opened gifts from my mom and sister. First, we always go downstairs to see what is in our stockings. It was about 8:30AM and I did not feel like getting up at all. My mom came and shook me, and then my sister came in my room and finally got me up. I got a DVD and some different candy in my stocking. Then we went upstairs to the tree and opened the gifts we got each other. From my mom I got a laptop case, pens, paper, stamps, and envelopes to write home with while I am away in basic. I got a camouflage piggy bank from my sister. I had seen it at Wal-mart and thought it looked awesome. I needed something to hold my change rather than a boring coffee can.
I went to visit my girlfriend Kaley in Michigan for our little Christmas. She made me a tie blanket where the ends of two pieces of fabric are tied together to secure them together. One side is solid black and the other filled with eagles and pine trees. It is very soft and warm! We made some delicious cookies while we were there as well. We made some we titled “diabetes” cookies. They were sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles everywhere. Peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies were on the menu as well. We watched several great movies during my trip. And we exchanged “I love yous” somewhere during this visit!
Today, we had Christmas at our house with the Banasiaks. For lunch we had baked ham, meatballs, cheesy potatoes, rolls, corn, and pumpkin pie. Sitting in a circle we opened presents. I ended up getting some money from my Aunt Rhonda, money from Busia, and a gift card to Best Buy from my Aunt Becky.
I made out pretty well this Christmas as far as gifts go! It was nice to see most of my family before I have to leave in a couple of weeks. Although I never really see some of them more than once a year anyway… I guess there is fault on both sides for that. I surely did not hold back on eating food this Christmas. There was too many delicious things to be eaten! And there is still leftovers… Like I said before, this Christmas came and went really fast. Now time for the new year!
