Yes, I am excited for MEPS. Usually you would not think one would be so anxious to get a physical, but the real part I’m excited for is swearing-in to become a soldier at the end of the MEPS process. It is going to be one of the longest Monday’s I will ever have, and I have had some longMonday’s in school. The processing for the military is only the first step in becoming a true soldier. This whole experience with the National Guard will shape who I will be in the future. It all starts with this one day of tests to make sure that my body is physically ready for the Army National Guard.
My recruiter told me that the swearing-in ceremony required semi-formal clothing. I went out and was looking for a nice shirt and some new black pants to wear. I was open to any color except a black shirt. I found this “army green” shirt as I would like to call it. It is your typical dress shirt from Kohl’s. I had also bought a new belt, socks, and underwear of course. I want to be the best looking new recruit at the ceremony. I think I clean up pretty nice. I will definitely try to see if anyone at the ceremony can record me swearing-in, or at the very least get a picture of my recruiter and I or one of the “higher-ups” and I after the ceremony. I can not believe that in less than two days, I will be a soldier for the United States Army National Guard.
