Today I received the contact information for my recruiter. I e-mailed him and hope to hear back from him soon. If I don’t hear back by, let’s say, Thursday I will probably give him a call. I really don’t know his schedule right now, so I figured a lengthy e-mail would suffice for now. That’s the farthest I’ve gone so far on that aspect.
So far I have been keeping up with school-work. The reading is not too bad. It is about a chapter every week for each of the three classes that require reading. Thank goodness math doesn’t require me to actually read through a whole textbook. My online geology class is basically a joke. There are 17 quizzes with five questions each. There is a quiz over each chapter. Also, there are three exams that are online as well. The system allows you to re-take the quizzes and tests up to three times. Some questions are different, but a lot of them are the same. At least, that is how it has been for the quizzes so far. It’s pretty much a guaranteed A if I keep up on the reading and taking notes as well.
I am filming a series called the “Castleman Challenge”. I am taking user comments from YouTube and doing different challenges and dares, if you will, with the family. So far we have done three episodes, and the next one will be uploaded tomorrow. Every Wednesday we upload another Challenge video. So far it has been really fun! I posted the Milk Challenge video I did on this blog a few posts back. You can click here to view my video page to watch some other videos I have been uploading to YouTube.
That is about it for today. I think I will chill out tonight and watch a movie since I am caught up on school-work!
So far the first week of school has been great. I have been reading and taking notes over the chapters I am required to read. My work schedule fits great with my school schedule. I only have to go to work and class on the same day once every two weeks. Amazing! On the days that I do not work, I have scheduled myself to go to the gym on campus. I think it is awesome that I can find time for the three most important things: school, exercise, and work. Continue Reading
Lately I’ve been thinking about joining the National Guard. I’ve done some reading on the NG Forums about what to expect and the certain things that the NG does. This is something that will give me experience for what I want to do later in my career. It offers tuition assistance and a student loan repayment program. It will definitely be beneficial to help me pay for school. I would have to go to 10 weeks of BCT (Basic Combat Training) and then a scheduled amount of weeks for AIT (Advanced Individual Training). This will most likely take most of the summer to complete and maybe even overlapping into the Fall. Continue Reading
Looks like I have endured the first week of classes. One down and fourteen more weeks to go. Originally I signed up for five classes, which was fifteen credit hours. I quickly realized that having five classes and working part-time was too much for me to handle. I dropped an online class and kept my status as a full-time student taking twelve credit hours as I have in past semesters. I think that is very comfortable for me. I would rather get good grades in all four classes rather than getting average grades in five of them due to not dedicating enough time to each. Continue Reading
It is late night, or early morning, whichever you want to call it. I decided to write a quick update on my classes so far after the first two days. The three online classes seem like they will be alright for me. There will be a bunch of reading every week that I will be responsible for completing and comprehending. Basically in my online classes there are a few tests and writing assignments taken for grades. My two courses on campus seem like they will be alright if I pay attention during class and complete the assigned readings before class. Taking fifteen credit hours this semester instead of twelve is going to be a challenge for me, but I am sure I can overcome it and get some A’s! Hopefully I have a great semester!
It’s been a good while since I’ve just stated what is on my mind. So forgive me if this post seems a little jumbled and off topic a bunch. Continue Reading
I am definitely ready for classes to start. I miss the campus atmosphere and meeting new people in class. I miss walking into class and learning new things along with other people. This Fall I am taking five classes instead of four like the previous semesters. I will be attending two classes on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and I have three online classes. The style of an online class is something that is new to me. Continue Reading
