Hitesh and I have been friends before I even knew what a friend was. My parents moved into a house, that we currently reside in, when I was only one year old. I think I was about four years old when I met Hitesh. He was around six years old at the time. He lives just three doors down from me. Our parents met, and thus, we met for the first time. He showed me the world of video gaming. Well, at least the video game system of that time, Super Nintendo. (Which he still has, by the way.)
We have been friends ever since. Great neighborhood games of cops and robbers, tag, and other imaginative games were enjoyed in the “old days” with other kids in the neighborhood. We went to the same schools up until college.
Hitesh went off to Purdue and we lost touch for a year or two. This was due to the distance plus a girlfriend I had at the time that would get upset I would hang out with anyone other than her or her group of friends. He came back to finish up his degree at IPFW. This was the year I was going to start classes at IPFW, so I thought it’d be sweet to take a class together. We took a dreaded intro to philosophy class. We helped each other through it. More him helping me.
I can gladly say that he is my best friend and always will be. We joke around a lot and get on each other’s nerves sometimes, but what are best friends for, right? As time goes on, I make every effort to hang out with him as much as I can. We are getting older and eventually going to move out of our parents’ houses. It’s not going to be just a 500ft walk to each others’ front doors. I see us remaining friends for our whole lives. Whenever we get married, I think we plan to be each other’s best man. Hitesh is going to be a pharmacist when he completes pharmacy school. I am going to be involved in some federal law enforcement agency. Definitely two unique paths of our lives, but I am looking forward to visiting his huge house someday and he will come visit mine.
We do not go as far as having BFF rings like Spongebob and Patrick, but we can count on each other and share our crazy life experiences, no matter how idiotic.
