Today was the championship match for Wimbledon 2012. The two players that made their way to the final match were Roger Federer and Andrew (Andy) Murray. When Nadal fell to Rosol, I knew my favorite player, Andy, had a chance to make it through his side of the bracket.
The match started at 9:00AM in my time zone. I was really hoping my guy Murray could get his first Wimbledon title. He won the first set against Federer. This got me really excited. However, he lost the next three, hard-fought sets to Roger. There was one game in the second set, I believe, that made it to ten deuce points. During the match, some rain moved into the area. There was a delay as the groundsman came out to cover the court and as the roof was closed. After this delay, it seemed that Federer picked up his game a bit. As Federer was looking better, it appeared Andy kept getting more frustrated. I knew that the experience Roger had in this championship game position would help him push for the win.
It must have been tough for Murray coming so close to a win and walk away with the runner-up position. It is unfortunate that Murray was born while among the top three dominating players in tennis. If only if someone with his skill level was born four or five years later, they would have been number one in the world.
These guys are good at what they do and make a bunch of money doing what they love to do! I think it would be so much fun to live life as a tennis player.
