…is one tough thing to do when I do not have a goal or something to save up for. Some people say spend it while you are alive because you could die tomorrow. It is not realistic, but true. I really do not have anything materialistic I need (want) to save for. I should be saving as much as I can for my college loans that I will be left with when I graduate.
I try to make myself stick to a budget. Every week I should take $40 out for spending money for the week. Gasoline and insurance for the truck would be separate from that. I would still be saving up quite a bit if I did this every week. But there are these times when I feel like I have a lot of money and I need to spend some of it on new clothes or something new to play with. The majority of my spending money goes to spending on food for myself to eat at home or when I’m out and about. Also, I buy dinner in the cafeteria at work as well, which adds up over time.
I am starting to realize I can save money pretty quickly if I do not spend it. Wow, isn’t that obvious? I really just need a goal amount to set for myself to save. That way I am actually working towards something. The number $5000 keeps popping in my head for some reason. Maybe I will make that my goal and then go from there. And challenge myself to see where I can cut spending money without roughing it too much. 🙂
This world is ALL about money, and if you do not save and get out on top early, it’s tough to live with the rising costs of everything.
