Last Friday, the Mega Millions Jackpot became the largest amount in history. You better believe I bought tickets for the drawing. I was not very hopeful seeing as everyone else in the U.S. was buying multiple tickets to try to cash in on some luck. The previous Friday the jackpot was $290 million. I bought tickets for that one, because I thought that was a pretty large jackpot than normal. I did not win anything that night. I missed buying tickets for the following drawing on Tuesday when still no one had all six numbers match on their ticket. After that, ticket sales boomed everywhere with record sales.
Everyone was talking about the jackpot on Friday, the day of the big drawing. Someone was sure to win. I was at work when the drawing took place, and looked up the winning numbers when I arrived home. Not a single winning ticket was in my hand. Oh well. It was worth a shot right? One out of 176 million chances to win.
If I won that kind of money, the first thing I would do is pay off my school debts I have already acquired. Then, pay off any debt in my immediate family. I would buy a new car, a motorcycle, a new house for myself, and then travel a lot in the summer. I would still go to school. I would want to continue my education and have a career regardless of winning a huge amount of money. After buying several things there would still be a big chunk of money left. I would invest most of it and make sure I had enough for my future kids.
I honestly would not know what I would do first if I won a significant amount of money. I would want to remain anonymous, but in Indiana I do not think we have that option. I would definitely be overwhelmed. I do not think you can keep all of that money in one bank, can you? I know some banks can insure up to $200k dollars.
Nevertheless, that was a pretty cool part of history I “participated” in. I wonder if it will ever reach that amount again?
