I never take off my Livestrong, yellow bracelet unless I am working at the hospital and I take it off so it is not the carrier of pathogens. While I am asleep, in the shower, and all day, everyday, I wear it. I got it last year when a co-worker of mine had an extra one. I did not think so much of it at the time. I just took it and wore it. Now, whenever I take it off, it feels really weird to not have anything on my wrist. Now, why do I wear this bracelet on my wrist?
Ever since I’ve gotten it, for me, it has stood as a symbol for a healthier lifestyle. Anytime I look at it, the bracelet reminds me of the healthy lifestyle I want to live. Almost exactly one year ago, I weighed 234 pounds. Currently I am around 215 pounds, give or take. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve checked. The weight really is not the biggest factor for me. It is just as long as I know that I am trying my best to stay active. How Lance Armstrong overcame cancer and went on to win the Tour de France several times after his fight with cancer is truly inspirational. I fully support his foundation and everything they do.
I will continue to wear this bracelet until it wears out and breaks. And then, I will get a new one! Whenever I see other people wearing the bracelet, I feel some sort of connection between the two of us. We both most likely are wearing it for some of the same reasons. It has become a part of me now.
