What would you do if you found money on the ground? Pick it up and put it in your pocket? Or try to find the owner? Would it have to depend on how much you found? What if it was one dollar? Ten? Fifty? One-hundred? Or one thousand? Would it depend on where you found it? In a store or on the streets?
On Thursday, I was walking around the mall with my girlfriend and I was stuck wandering aimlessly throughout a woman’s store. It is brutal. (I’m sure you men can relate.) No, it is actually not the bad! Only joking. But, as I was walking around, I noticed a pile of bills on the floor. I did not hesitate or think twice to take it to the counter to turn it in so whoever realized they were missing it would find it. It was about fifty or sixty dollars. I know that if I had accidentally dropped money, I would greatly appreciate it if someone turned it in instead of thinking it was their lucky day and pocket the money.
Shortly after I turned in the money, a woman came to me and thanked me for turning in her money. It made me realize that I had relieved that woman from losing her money. I know how I would feel if I accidentally dropped that amount of money!
Life lesson: Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
Maybe some good karma will be in my future?
