Sunday night I was filling out a bunch of different applications to Parkview Hospital. I was applying just for entry-level positions, like housekeeping assistants and cook positions, that I met the qualifications for.
I needed a new job. I have been at the same grocery store for almost three years now and I do not get the hours I need nor do I make substantial money. I was making $7.55/hour after three years. So yes, time for a change!
No more than 48 hours later I received a voicemail from a Parkview associate stating to call them back. I called back immediately and they asked me to come into the corporate offices for an interview. I set up an appointment and went to the interview the following day. Everything went smoothly and they offered me a part-time position as an “Environmental Services Assistant.” Which basically means housekeeping person I believe. I gladly accepted the position! I will be working 24 hours/week at a rate of pay of $9.00 plus .89 cents every evening and weekend hour. I will be working all evenings and weekends anyway. So essentially, I will be getting paid $9.89/hour. Almost ten bucks an hour is not too bad of a deal if I say so myself. I would probably be making a little over two-hundred each week, which is about what I would make working a full-time week at the grocery store.
I am starting this job on March 12. I will be working at the hospital on State. I assume a lot of workers from State are wanting to move over to the newer building at Parkview North that will be opening shortly, so they needed to fill positions at the State location. Next week I have a meeting for some paperwork and also have a physical. Orientation will happen my first day of work.
I can not believe all this happened within three days! I am very excited to get started and meet plenty of new people! I can not wait to experience a different field of work!
