All throughout high school I was in show choir. I formed a close bond with a lot of people who shared my interest in performing on stage for a large audience, singing and dancing. Recently, I saw my high school group, Charisma, perform at a local high school for a competition. Watching them made me miss show choir greatly. Every year Charisma has a great show!
It seemed like it took forever to learn the whole competition show. Everyday after school we would practice and learning new moves and notes. Although it took many hours to learn the show, it was always wonderful when we could run through the whole show without stopping. One of the best parts was when we got to see what costumes we were going to be wearing for the show. One of the greatest feelings was being on stage and hearing the crowd cheer for the group. Another great feeling was getting out of those sweaty clothes and changing into something more comfortable!
When a group like this is tightly knit and always around each other, there is plenty of drama! I was not part of most of the things going on around me, but it was fun to watch some of it happen. When it affected our performance though, the drama did not sit well with me. Freshman year I was really quiet. As time went on I became more comfortable with everything. I became a leader of the group by my senior year and just wanted the best for everyone. Man was there a lot of drama my senior year! We all made it out alive though!
Competition season, January through March, was always the best time. Every Saturday was a competition somewhere. Most of the time, we had to get up early in order to get to the school on time. It was hilarious watching all of the non-morning people drudge around in the early hours. The bus rides were also fantastic and filled with laughter.
I will always remember all of the good times I had while in show choir I will always return to see how my favorite school is doing in the show choir world!
