The best way to start your day, other than waking up to one million dollars lying on your floor, is to start by eating a good breakfast. It gets your mind and body focused for the day. Start making a habit of eating breakfast. 62% of people in the United States do not have anything for breakfast. Those people might make an excuse like “I’m not hungry in the mornings.” or “I simply do not have time.” There is no excuse not to eat breakfast, even if it is not a full course breakfast! The people who are eating unhealthy mid-morning snacks at work are those people who say they are not hungry in the morning. And the people who do not have time, either get up a little bit earlier and make a quick breakfast, or get breakfast to go. There are many things you can grab and go. Just grab a banana or apple and a granola bar!
Eating a good breakfast starts up your metabolism for the day. This helps you maintain a healthy body weight. Also, when you skip breakfast, sometimes one may overeat during lunch. You may miss out on some important nutrients from breakfast, such as protein from eggs and calcium from yogurt or milk.
Every morning I am making a habit of eating breakfast now. I used to skip breakfast, because I would wake up just in time to shower and drive off to school. Now I eat breakfast, because I found myself getting hungry long before it was time for lunch. My breakfast consists of a banana, a bowl of Kashi cereal with skim milk, and a glass of all natural orange juice. Sometimes I might get crazy and switch up the banana for an apple!
So yes, it is very important to eat a good breakfast to start your day! It helps you get ready for the day both physically and mentally.
