I have applied for a new job. Working at Kroger…Well, let’s just put it this way: it’s a job to make money and not something that is enjoyable. There are many reasons why I am considering a new job. I will not name these reasons, because this blog is public and I would not want my workplace co-workers to know what those reasons are.
I have applied for a job as a receptionist at the recently new Citizens Square City-County Building building in Fort Wayne. It is a part-time job that pays nine doll hairs($) every hour. This is more than I make currently: just above minimum wage including union dues. I have applied for this position, because it will benefit me with my career choice. Currently, I am planning to work for the county as a county police officer and then work my way up the ladder from there. I might join a certain task agency within the department like the drug task force or the SWAT team. Eventually, I would like to become part of a federal agency. I have researched several, but have not chosen one to pursue. Or perhaps work my way up to become the Sheriff of the Fort! That would be something! “Castleman for Sheriff” on signs all around the county! I really cannot fathom that. It would be amazing, nonetheless.
This job as a receptionist would place me more near the criminal justice field as it is a job for the county, taking calls for court related items and certain things of that nature. It would be a better job overall, in my opinion.
One of my mother’s friends works in the office that this job is located in. I am glad I have a connection somehow, because she says that as of Friday, this job alone had over two hundred applicants and has definitely reached more by now. I am not sure how many personal interviews they were planning on conducting. My awesome connection spoke with the Human Resources employee who is conducting the interviews and told her about me a little bit and “spiced me up” if you will. I believe the HR employee pulled my file aside for the personal interviews, but I am not 100% positive on that. I think that applicants, such as myself, will receive an e-mail if an interview is requested. I am eagerly waiting for this e-mail! Until then, this is all I know about the job so far.
I am very excited and anxious to hear back from them!
