The biggest shopping day of the year is Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I had never experienced what Black Friday was until a few years ago when I was able to drive. And boy, was it exciting! Every year since then,I have went out shopping for a “good deal”.
This year I went with a friend to Walmart at ten ‘o clock on Thursday night. He wanted to get one thing there. This would be my first time going to Walmart when their sale starts. We got there about fifteen minutes before ten, and there were crowds among crowds of people standing by the pallets of items they wanted. Walmart disperses full pallets of items throughout the store, and since most Walmarts are twenty-four hour stores, people can wait by the product until it is time to start the sale. So there are people waiting by the products they want. We find what we are looking for and do the same thing. Then, all of a sudden, noise commences and shrink wrap starts tearing! It’s time! We run up to the pallet and grab the box. Once people had what they needed, including us, it was a mad dash to the registers. We got second place in a line, so it was not bad at all on the time it took to get one item.
During this whole experience I was referencing a toy from a movie called “Jingle All the Way” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. I kept yelling “It’s my Turbo Man!”
Black Friday can be a fun experience even if you aren’t planning to buy anything. Just going to the store to witness all the chaos is fun with some friends! Last year some friends and I stood outside Toys R Us for maybe an hour. We got in and walked around just pushing our way through people walking out with nothing. It was all in good fun.
What kind of deals did you get this year?
