It is the sweat running down your face from a good workout! To me, nothing is more satisfying to my health than exercise. So here’s the scoop on what is going on with my “healthy life doings”.
For a while now I have been going to the gym at the university after classes when I did not have to work. In the beginning, it was on and off. Some weeks I would go to the gym two to three times and the next week only once. For the past three weeks, I have been actively exercising for at least four days per week, and I plan to continue this routine. Lately, I have been focusing my energy on running/jogging. I feel like this is a great start to burn fat and gain muscle in the legs. I am working to improve my endurance in order to run longer distances. When I first began running, I would be lucky if I was able to run half of a mile without stopping to catch my breath. Currently, on a good day, I can run 3.1 miles (5k) without stopping to walk. I am going to continue running 3.1 miles until every day is a “good day” for that distance. At that point, I will add another mile or two to the distance I will run each day I exercise.
I started running because a couple of guys at work started to go out running for exercise and they invited me along. I gladly went and found out that I really enjoy the activity, especially if I run outdoors to view the beauty of nature. It has probably been about four months since I have started to run. Between then and now, I was not running every single week. But now, I have started to run every week to keep improving. If someone told me, when I first started running, in four months I would be able to run three miles, without stopping, I would laugh.
I have competed in two 5k races so far. One with a time of 33mins and one of 34mins. I was very proud of myself and still am. There is nothing more exciting and uplifting than the crowd at a race finish line. They cheer and holler for you as you run towards the finish. I cannot explain the feeling with words.
Of of the many songs that motivates me:
On June 6th of this year, I have recorded that my weight was 231.6lbs. As of today, my weight is 214.4lbs. Between then and now, I have “fallen off the horse” and got back on several times. I have gotten back on the horse and have been riding it for awhile now and will continue to ride it, because I am motivated. My goal is to get to 200lbs. Sometimes it is hard, because one can work terribly hard and not see results right away. I honestly cannot say that I have seen results myself yet! But you have to keep pushing through the rough patches and eventually you will see results.
To anybody out there who wants to make a healthier change for themselves: You can do it! Small changes is all it takes. Get motivated by others. Let me motivate you! Let’s work together on this and make our lives more healthier!
